NINI SANNA
NINI SANNA, born in Soresina ( Cr) in the fourth of April 1935. Graduated at the Istituto Tecnico Nautico of Camogli in 1954. From 1955 to 1957 he did his military service in the Italian Navy. From 1955 to 1956 he boarded on the ship Amerigo Vespucci as a steersman. In 1956 he got the scuba-diving license. Boarded on various merchant ships with different rank until 1962. In 1962 he got his deep-sea master license. Boarded on various merchant ships and in charge of deep-sea tugs until 1972. In between boarding, being fond of sailing, he sails on his KOTICK, a 1923 cutter from Costaguta shipyard. In 1972 he quitted the Merchant Navy and began to teach sailing. The following year he established a sailing school named "Shamal". A few years later the school name changed in "Cini" due to the arrival of a new sponsor and then again it turned to the actual name "Veladoc". During 1980 in cooperation with the city council of the town of Turin ( Italy ) he organized "SummerYouth": a number of cruising teaching sessions which approached many teens to the sailing world. Meanwhile he developed a didactic program aimed to teach to sail to young students which has course all year round. After many wins in a lot of sailing-races in 1987, first in Italy, he organized sailing courses on yachts, which began to be very popular thanks to the up to date yachts and to the good placement in national and international race results. As he remarked on his book "In the blu"a very young Giovanni Soldini did participated with Nini Sanna to a lot of sailing races between 1985 and 1989. First in Italy to promote ultra light boats with Mr.Ettore Santarelli they modified and launched the "Modulo 126". At first developed for the "Centomiglia del Garda" race, this boat under the name of "Flying Shamal" won the challenging race "Regata dei Mille" (Genova-Marsala). He has written two books useful to get the Sailing license. The latter, actually in bookstore, is titled "Navigare". He is vice-president of the Veladoc Racing Team a sport amateur association affiliate member of F.I.V. ( Italian Sailing Federation) for whom he organize with his team, the National Criterum of Match-race with a lot of praise and success among the umpires and also among the participant from whom we received many positive remarks.
